Funky foam die cut

I can't help myself. I found some funky foam festering in the drawer and had to see if it can be die cut. YES it can be cut with the wafer thin dies. Once I'm finished sorting I NEED to make some funky foam flowers :)

Well what a strange start to 2012.
First up here is hello cupcake coloured with Speccies, matted onto nitwit cherry blossom papers.

Here is a close up of the rose with is a die from marianne designs. I cut the parts out of plain white paper, and coloured it with distress ink and used gold acrylic paint on the edges of the rose and the papers.

Onto the 'strange' part... I've been made redundant :(
The company where I've worked for the last 16 years has gone into administration (and has now closed) making almost 100 staff redundant. Sooooo while I'm at home I decided to have a massive clear out/up of all of my craft stuff! Now bear in mind that about 17 years ago I started doing salt dough, plaster moulds, stencilling and folk art/decorative painting, and being a typical crafter never throwing anything away, I now have loads of stuff.
I'm trying to go through and decide if I will possibly use things again, and completely reorganise to get similar things together (I have dies and embossing folders in about 3 places as the thick dies don't fit into a photo album with the thin ones)
Problem being, anyone who knows me will know how easily distracted I am, so as I open each box/draw and find something I'd forgotten, I have to have a play :) for example I've just found some lovely 3 part flower stencils, and have just made a lovely topper ready to go on a card, and earlier I came across some fiskars texture plates which I bought years ago but put away because you had to emboss it all by hand and it took ages, well a quick google search later and you can run them through a big shot, and of course I had to try and they work fantastically, now I need to find a way to store them with my embossing folders!!
Here are a couple of (bad) photos of the task ahead, it might take me quite a while :)

The first here is an image by Lili of the valley coloured with speccies, a spellbinders die for the frame and a marrianne die for the 'bullrushes' with added flock for effect.

This card is made from 'the big one' dvd.
I really enjoyed putting this together - and not a stamp in sight!

Joint effort

This card was a joint effort by my husband and me. I was watching Bev's video's for colouring and my husband was watching over my shoulder!! He decided that he wanted to have a go and this is the very excellent result. He used Spectrum noirs, pencils and spirit, and chalks. I will be leaving him with some more stamped images to colour for me:)

I made it into a card for his mom, using Nitwits papers and Marianne dies (cut with white card and embossed with WOW powder in pepper) which gives a lovely cast iron look.

Christmas Glitter

Woohoo I've got the afternoon off work :) and I've still got another day (or 2 half days) to take before Christmas.

Here are 2 cards that I've just made up. The images and backing paper are from Nitwits - joyful hearts. The images were imported into Draw x4 and I added the shadows.

The first card has double sided tape and glitter added, the second one I edged with a versamark pad and used gold twinkle embossing powder and hand wrote the greeting.

I had a reorganisation last night of the cards I have made for the fayre next week and realised how short I was of Christmas cards so thought I'd better crack on :)

These were inspired by this site No Time To Stamp

I love how easy these were to put together.

The sentiment was stamped direct onto the card and embossed. The image was stamped onto card and embossed. papers and a strip of mirri/glitter card glued to the card then the image was mounted on foam pads. Easy peasy :)

I bought quite a few new dies last week at the NEC and this has to be one of the quickest cards I've made. I used a Marianne cut and emboss folder for the card and used distress ink over the front. The poinsettia is also a Marianne die and the leaves are a punch.

Here is a card made with some of my NEC purchases.

I was lucky enough to go to the NEC hobbycraft show on Thursday. I spent a fortune and had a fantastic day. I got to see demos by Barbara Gray, Sheena Douglass, Nancy Watt and Stephanie Weighman as well as many others. And I got to meet (drum roll please!) Dean and Leonie from C&C.

Leonie took the above picture, but I was 'starstruck' and turned into a gibbering wreck so didn't get a picture with Leonie (ah well it's an excuse to go again next year)

I'm staying with my parents in Spain, and normally my suitcase contains tea bags but this time I bought out a big shot!! I bet customs had a right shock when they were scanning it. The dies are mine that I also bought out to show some of what the big shot can do. The stamp is cold crisp kisses by little claires.

Another cute Milly card. Right that's it I have got to ink up my final Lili of the valley image now - hopefully I will get time to have a play later.

Some more Christmas cards that I have made recently.
Very simple card, silver embossing powder on the image and the bottom of the card embossed with the big shot and swiss dots folder.
Another simple one, main image is aspects of design, bauble were a freebie on a magazine again embossed at the bottom of the card.
Image stamped in black, and mounted onto a card that I had printed on the pc.
Image is by Lili of the Valley, coloured with H2o's mounted on gold mirri and sentiment is from am old papermania paper pack.
This is my favourite I think. I made the easel card with a marianne design die. Image again is lili of the valley, coloured with spectrum noirs and a touch of gold leaf added to the baubles.

Well I thought I had better do a little catch up. I make the cards and take a picture, then forget all about blogging them. So grab a cuppa, this might take while :)

A huge papermania stamp!

Both using parts of the papermania stamp, embossed with silver. Nellie Snellen dies for the frame and a Marianne D die for the snowflake, and a touch of distress ink.
Stamp and sentiment are from little claires, coloured with spectrum noir pens.

I love this tree stamp from little claires (red gingham designs)

A push me pull me card, inspired by create and craft!! I googled to find the instructions and made this up. Marianne D dies and stempelglede grunge stamps.
My first attempt at using watercolour card with distress inks. Stamp is an old elzybells one.
My second attempt at watercolour card. stamp is from Magenta.
A Kenny K downloaded image, coloured with spectrum noirs. Leaves are cut with cricut from a Penny Duncan file.
Playing with die cuts, not at all sure of this one.

And lastly is a wedding card box. I was given the box and asked to pretty it up. Here is what I came up with.

I'm not very good at regular updates :)

Here are some of my cards from the last couple of months.

This card, I designed the cogs in sure cuts a lot, coloured with distress ink, then used distress embossing powder which gives a 'sandpaper' feel. The sentiment is embossing powder melted on my craft sheet and stamped into.

This card was designed from scratch in scal. Lots of welding involved!!
This one was inspired by simply cards & papercraft (issue 84) The image is also from this magazine. The background paper is made with distress inks, water and a circle stamp set.
This was made again with my cricut. Designed with scal.
This card is made just with vintage photo distress ink.

Here is a card made ready for later this month - knowing that my stepson doesn't even know the address for this blog!! lots of layers and flowers, very busy compared to my usual cards but I quite like the change.
And this is my stepson's birthday card also for later this month.
Well I thinks that all up to date again :)

I've almost got my things sorted now, but I got a bit bored and stacked the last few bits on top of my drawer :)
Here is another twisted easel card, the layout is inspired by Pops (again lol) I must say I like the effect of distressing the edges more than I'm used to.

The image is from wild rose, coloured with promarkers, papers are an old set I found whilst tidying, not sure of the make.

Bad day, good day

I had had a really rotten day at work today but then I came home to find this little beauty waiting for me...

Thank you sooo much to "Pops" she is gorgeous and sparkly and it really turned my day around. She has pride of place in my lounge, my very own muse xx

No cards from me at the moment I'm having another huge move around/tidy up trying to get the things I use most nearest to me without having to move boxes to get at them. I'm getting there slowly, hopefully tomorrow I should be up and running again (early finish at work - whoopee)

3 Challenges

I have been playing with bleach today!! It's a technique I saw ages ago but never got around to trying, I must say I like the results :)

The image (camellia - Little Claire's) was stamped onto the dark brown card and embossed with WOW gold sparkle, then I used bleach and a paint brush to go over the image to take the colour out. The leaves were then painted with H20's.
The swirl (Flourish - Little Claire's) was stamped onto the edges of the main image and the piece of cream card with brown ink.

Here is another card for Little Claires anything goes challenge.
I was having a play at doing another twisted easel card, to see if you can make them from A5 card rather than a square, and with a bit of measuring, hey presto :) it works.

Stamp. Flowerhead from little claires.
embossed with WOW metallic silver sparkle and cut out. coloured with dusty concord distress ink.
Background, stamped with versamark ink and chalk applied on top.

Here is the card for Little Claire's anything goes and Secret crafter - stamped flower.
I decided to try my hand at a twisted easel card.

The stamp is from Little Claires, coloured with promarkers, the stamens have been gilded with flakes and the centre has stickles glitter glue. All embellishments were white card coloured with 'faded jeans' distress ink. Again I made a couple of roses to prop open the card.

I'm entering this card for Sketch Saturday which is a lovely sketch to follow.

The image is beary big hugs from belles 'n whistles.
You might notice that this card uses similar elements as the last card (except for the white martha stewart border, and the swirl is a sizzix one)
I'm trying my hardest to always make 2 cards at a time... so I stamped and coloured 2 images, made 2 of everything (even the white border, but didn't like it on the earlier card) but then arrange them differently to make the look different :)

Here is a close up of the rose, this time using a nellie snellen punch, I got the idea from here (about halfway down the page - Rose), but decided to use punches and hand cutting the leaves rather than using the cricut file.

Well two posts in one day!!
I've made this card for the Friday Sketchers and BnW (anything but winter) challenges.
This year I am going to try to do more challenges.

The image is beary big hugs by Belles 'n Whistles coloured with distress ink. Backing paper is a magazine freebie, the border is punched with a Martha Stewart punch, the two swirls are a Marianne creatables die and the rose I made myself using thin printer paper, an old X-cut flower punch and distress ink. I have left the sentiment blank as this card has no recipient yet :( lol

Happy Birthday Dad

Here is the card I made for my Dad's birthday today.

The wallet was made with brown ribbed card, which was distressed with inks. The 'stitching' was made with a cuttlebee runner which I then drew around with a black pen. The 'DAD' was embossed with gold powder and a ticket stamped with happy birthday added to the front. I added a strap and a brass brad to close the wallet. Inside I made a small stamped card for the greeting and made a business type card for the other side.

Here is the card I made for my husbands birthday back at the end of December, basically the same as above, except there was am Itunes voucher inside!

latest cards

Well I can't believe that it's almost the end of January already....where did that go?
Here are a few cards that I've made in the last month :)

This on was made using the instructions here with a penny black stamp 'sparklers' and a background stamp from butterfly kisses.

These were both inspired by a card I saw on poppet's blog, using my new Belles 'n whistles stamp. The card on the left was coloured with distress ink the one on the right was coloured with watercolour pencils.

The card on the right was made first but I didn't like the wishy-washy colour so I remade it, printed the backing papers onto different card which made it richer, and coloured with promarkers rather than pencil. The numbers were cut by hand from acetate (recycled from the wrapping of one of my x-mas pressies) then embossed through my big shot, then coloured with alcohol ink.

This is one of a crafters companion SWALK stamps that I bought a while ago, coloured with distress ink, and the bubbles are glitter glued, the flowers are punched and sprayed with mica mist. Some of the background paper flowers also have glitter glue on as I managed to get some of the pinflair glue on the paper when I dropped one of the flowers!!! Glitter glue covers a multitude of errors :)

Not one but two

Here are 2 cards that I made for spyders house mouse challenge and the Stampman challenge of distress. The backgrounds are made with distress ink and a stamp, the image is coloured with distress ink and the mushroom tops are flocked :)

Edit. Now I have more time I can add details...
Backgrounds are made with copier paper, scrunched up and semi-flattened, distress ink rubbed rubbed over the surface and sprayed with water. dried with a heat gun, then stamped with a swirl stamp (from dimention fourth) in grey ink. Then sprayed lightly with shimmer spray. The images are coloured with distress ink and a waterbrush, the aerials are embossed with silver embossing powder. The mushrooms are both flocked.

The Glitterpot

Earlier this year I decided that I wanted to go to The Glitterpot, and Friday just gone was that day. It was a 350 mile round trip but it was so worth it!!
I have never seen so much stash in one place, here is what I bought.

Afterwards we drove to Brighton, and spent the rest of the day nosing round, and of course a wander down the pier.

It was a great day, but a long day. We left at 7.30 in the morning and got back at about 10.

Here is a card I have been playing with today. I saw a template in papercrafts inspirations magazine and decided to have a go at converting it into a cut file using inkscape. I have tweeked the file after making this card. I'm really quite pleased with how it turned out.(except for the little tear as I was peeling the paper off the mat)

Here is a card I made last night using Cricut design studio and plantin schoolbook cartridge,

The swirly lines were made with a quickie glue pen and sparkle flock, and edges were inked with distress ink.

This is the 2 separate elements which were created by welding circles, ovals and a speech bubble!! for the icing and diamonds and squares for the base.
I will post the file later on 4 shared if anybody wants it. (feel free to stretch it about to change it if you want)

Here are 2 cupcake cards made with templates from MY SCRAP CHICK and cut on my cricut. They are so quick and easy to to make :)

Both blinged up with glitter glue sprinkles.

Here's a card I've just finished.

The stamp is from clevercut and coloured with promarkers. The background is made from cheap printer paper, screwed up then smoothed out, 'fired brick' distress ink rubbed over the surface, spritzed with water and blasted with a heat gun to dry, then sprayed with silver mica mist, which Ali at clevercut insisted I try (yeah like she really had to force me lol) I love the soft shimmer it gives and might just have to try the other colours.

Here is an anniversary card that I made last month (but can only show now it's been opened!)

The card base I designed myself in Inkscape then cut with sure cuts a lot. The digi images are by Dustin Pike, and the other 'bits' are from various cricut cartridges welded in design studio. The 'glossy' title and picket fence have both been inked with distress inks and clear embossed.
If you have sure cuts a lot you can download the svg for the card base here (hopefully that works!!)

Here is a card I made for my mother in law. The stamp is by stamps away from Clevercut. I went to their showroom last weekend and spent all my birthday money :) I also met Ali the owner who is on create and craft, and is so lovely. The image is coloured with promakers.

Very quick card made with free download from Stampin Inspirations. Maria has very kindly made the svg file which I imported into SCAL and cut. The flower top right is punched from the same papers and a dew drop added.

Well it's been a while....
Here's the card I made for my Dad back in January

The letters and numbers were cut with my cricut, coloured with distress inks then triple embossed with clear powder. I have also used a Martha Stewart edge punch. The image is from Digistampboutique which I distressed the edges and inked.

Here is my card for this weeks sketch challenge at Dare U 2 Digi Stamp

Everything is created on my pc with various free digi bits and pieces, which I then used PSP to change the colours and added the digi stamps from Dustin Pike. I have only made up the one card for now which was coloured with promarkers and a bit of doodleing. Not sure if I like it, it's a bit too flat for me. I will see what I can change for the other 3 :)

dareu2digistamp challenge 3

Here is my creation for this weeks challenge at Dare you to Digi Stamp the challenge being to use pink and green (and a digi stamp) well for this week I went with this cute character from Dustin Pike coloured with promarkers. The papers are all papermania (the big one) a total bargain last week from The Range at £9.99 all the layers are cut on my cricut using Fabulous Finds and Design studio. I have cute 4 full 12x12 sheets into various mats and shapes so these same shapes and colours will make a few more appearances yet :) I have left the tag blank as I don't know who it's for yet!!

There is a new challenge blog dareu2digistamp which is having weekly challenges involving digital images. I am starting to love digi almost as much as my rubbah and really wanted to play along. I didn't get a chance to join in with last weeks sketch so I have combined the sketch with this weeks challenge of 'bling'. The image is from Pink Petticoat which is coloured with H20's matted using my new nesties labels one which is edged with a glitter marker. The flowers are cut by hand, inked over with distress inks and glitter marker and topped with a sparkly gem.

Here are some more of my recent cards

Wording cut with Cricut, images coloured with whispers markers and waterbrush, dp is from papermania.
Image is by penny black, stamped onto tissue paper and coloured with promarkers, then layered onto mountboard, background images stamped and embossed with cosmic shimmer silver.
tree image 'welded' with design studio then cut with cricut (I love doing these type) then decorated with glitter flock, peel offs and glitter glue.
Image by magnolia, coloured with promarkers, scallop circle cut with nestabilities then embossed with swiss dots, dp part of glitter stack by DCWV

I really enjoyed this one, sleigh and reindeer welded on design studio then cut out with cricut, reindeer flocked with a mixture of normal flock and glitter, presents made from squares of scrap paper and slide rail coloured with silver marker (photo makes it and the peel off look gold!!)

Another cricuted card, made quickly for a neighbours last minute order :)

Just a couple more to show but my camera is downstairs and I'm feeling really lazy!

Well it's been a while hasn't it? lol
I can't believe where the time goes, I have made these 3 cards for a chance to win a 'slice' (see the Pink Petticoat blog for more details)
I printed off the papers with just the first card in mind, but after cutting out the letters on my Cricut I realized that I could use the negative of the images for a second card, then I had a piece of paper left so made another quick card :)
The holly leaves on the first card are cut by hand, the ones on the other 2 are cut with the cricut, there is loads of glitter, embossing powder and glitter flock applied - well it is Christmas!!

Busy doing nothing

I have got the week off work this week, and it feels great to get up each day :) I have spent the last few days trying to reorganise my craft stuff to get my stamping stuff more accessible. So I have been moving everything about to get my ink pads, powders and heat gun into a drawer rather than in boxes and having to pull out 3 boxes each time I want to emboss. I have managed to trash everything else in the process though :) Here are a couple of pics of what it looks like now and 2 more cards. The first one is my first attempt with promarkers.

You may have noticed it's been a bit quiet here.... that's because I've been in Spain :) First day back at work today booo. I thought I'd better put a post up with some recent cards that I can show now they have been received.

This was stamped onto acetate with white stazon then I used sakura glitter pens to colour in the champagne glasses. I tried to fold the acetate but it just broke into two pieces so I used a 'pokey' tool to make holes ans stitched the edge!!

A spring card made with an image from pink petticoat which I opened in publisher and resized it to get it to fit into my cricuted (is that a word?) frame

Another spring card made for one of my SBS8 sisters for a 'spring' insired swap.

Another cricut card for my Dad xx

The wording here was designed with the design studio as individual letters were squashed together and welded to make one piece. The DAD letters are stamped with tool images from clevercut.

Well it was my Birthday on Sunday, I received some gorgeous cards which I just had to share, you may notice a couple of anniversary cards - it was also my 13th wedding anniversary on the same day :)
I received 2 new carts for my cricut and some money which I have used to buy the design studio for the cricut as I have been playing with the trial and the 'weld' feature is great, so hopefully I will get that tomorrow :) here are my cards.

A big hug to everyone who sent me a card there are a lot of ideas I will be 'borrowing' there!

I cant believe where all the time goes :( The first time I sat down tonight was about 9.30. I've done a bit on catching up with blogs (admittedly that took a while) but thats another evening gone.. ah well.
I thought I would share a card made with the help of my cricut (again)

I think the image is High Hopes which I used the cricut to cut the scalloped edge and the same for the mount, the paper is a download from Sweetshoppe with Prima daisies and a bellas bauble, the sentiment is printed from pc.

What gorgous weather we're having in the UK at the moment. Well hopefully I have finally got the pc sorted out - no dodgy popups :)
I have realised that I have never shown the pictures of the wedding invites so here they are. I can't take credit for the layout, it was by Stamping Caz for Beautiful Cards

We made 50 of both colours then made an extra 10 as they had miscounted !!

And here is the acceptance I made with my cricut.

The stamp is by Stampendous, each card was embossed using a cuttlebug folder on the bigshot and rubbed over with a white ink pad, the images were coloured with watercolour paint and H20's. The acceptance has got a embossed vellum sleeve with a shrink plastic image and the wording and envelope were made with the cricut.

Darn computer !!

I have just spent the last 4 days doing every spyware/anti-virus/adware scan known to man !! My 'puter got infected Thursday and everytime I went on the net I got loads of dodgy pop-ups aaargh, why oh why do people do this ? Finally today I tried AVG and after nearly an 8 hour scan it seems to have sorted the problem, lol there goes my cricut playing time. Talking of which does anybody know if the cartridges are the same in the USA as they are here in the UK? as in can I order one from the USA? Just need to let hubby know which cartridge I want for my Birthday now - and where to get it from :)

Well I have spent the last few hours playing with my new cricut, and I'm so pleased, it's so easy to use and you get two great cartridges with it, I now have a desk full of 'things' that I have cut out just to see how it works. here are some of the things that I have no idea what I will use them for but I NEEDED to cut them :) and look at the cute little bag !! lol

Omg omg, I have just ordered a cricut expression :) I have wanted one for ages but could not afford it, so I decided to sell my Wii as I haven't used it for months. I was going to get it from my local craft shop, even though she is slightly dearer than I had seen on the 'net' I prefer to buy local but... Mad about cards are having a 10% off weekend making it £288 (free p&p) so I have just merrily clicked away. Must go clear some space for it to live :)

What a glorious day it's been today, the sun has been shining, the cats have been soaking up the rays, what a difference a week makes.
Here are the cards I have made in the last few weeks,

The first and last are both criss-cross cards made with downloaded papers, sorry I can't remember where from! and the middle one is using the left over bits of paper from the first and the stamped image is from Stamping Bella.
